What is food?

Food is any nourishing substance consumed (eaten and drunk) to provide nutritional support for an organism. Food is the main source of energy that sustains life and promotes growth of us.

It is important to understand that just eating is not enough. The food which we eat should be nourishing means it should have all required nutrient by the organism. Food is the biggest source of energy for us or I would say “food is the energy”. Energy is an essential part of our daily lives. To complete any task weather it is internal or external required energy. It is important to insure proper energy consumption through different ways.

Why balance diet?

To insure the proper amount of energy we must pay attention on our diet. The diet eat, must be able to provide proper amount of energy. There for concept of a “balance diet” comes.

It is a well known that we need a “balanced” diet with proper nutrition in the “right” quantities each day.  Our diet must contain verities of foods that can fulfill the maximum requirement of calories, proteins, minerals, vitamins and alternative nutrients.

A balanced diet is essential for our organs and tissues, which requires proper nutrition to work effectively. Lacking of good and proper nutrition in our body is more prone to disease, fatigue, infection, and poor performance.

In children we can see because of poor diet habits they always have risk of growth and development problems and also poor academic performance.

Ayurveda says you must eat what you need. It is very important to understand that food must be eaten for health and only for tong.

“A balanced diet is one which provides all the nutrients in required amounts and proper proportions”

But that is not all some other factor like age, gender, physiological status and physical activity are also important in having a balance diet for an individual. So the quantities of foods needed to meet the nutrient requirements by those different factors.

Here some tips for healthy eating habits

  • Know your limit, stop when you feel full. Never do over eating.
